We are seeking an experienced Maryland Professional Land Surveyor (PLS) to support our ongoing surveying needs on a flexible, part-time basis. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys hands-on surveying work without the pressure of a full-time schedule—perfect for a retired or semi-retired professional looking to stay active in the industry. Position Overview The Part-Time Land Surveyor will assist with field and office surveying tasks, including boundary surveys, topographic surveys, ALTA/NSPS surveys, and construction stakeout. The position offers flexible hours, typically 20–30 hours/week, depending on workload. Key Responsibilities - Conduct and oversee: - Boundary surveys - Topographic surveys - ALTA/NSPS land title surveys - Property and construction stakeout surveys - Perform QA/QC on fieldwork and survey deliverables - Process field data and ensure accuracy and compliance with Maryland regulations - Prepare survey notes, plats, diagrams, and reports - Operate total stations, robotic instruments, and GPS/GNSS equipment - Collaborate with engineers, project managers, and construction teams - Provide guidance or oversight to field crews, as needed Required Qualifications - Active Maryland Professional Land Surveyor (PLS) License - 5 years of professional land surveying experience - Proficiency with: - Boundary & topographic surveys - ALTA/NSPS surveys - Total station & robotic / GPS survey equipment - Strong QA/QC and data processing skills - Strong attention to detail - Effective verbal and written communication - Valid driver’s license Preferred Qualifications - Experience with MDOT/SHA projects - AutoCAD familiarity - Experience with point cloud data or advanced survey technologies - Licensure in DC or nearby states (optional) Who We’re Looking For This position is especially well-suited for: A retired or semi-retired surveyor who wants flexible, consistent part-time work Someone who values accuracy, independence, and professionalism An experienced PLS who enjoys fieldwork and light office work without the demands of full-time hours Work Hours & Compensation - 20–30 hours per week (flexible schedule) - Competitive hourly compensation based on experience - Long-term, stable part-time role
