Job Description Job Description Job Summary The Community Health
Medical Assistant provides STI and PrEP education, treatment, and
clinical support for the PrEP Clinic, as well as for community
health’s daytime STI testing and primary care medical providers.
Locations include 1525, MRC, and mobile testing. Direct supervision
is under the Sr. Director of Community Health and Wellness and
includes drawing blood, giving injections, administering oral
medications, taking vital signs, and completing documentation of
activities in the medical chart per practitioner orders. This
person also provides education in one-on-one or group settings for
STIs and PrEP. Role Specific-Knowledge, Skills, and Talents
Required: •Fluency in medical terminology •Draws blood and ensures
proper specimen handling and storage. • Gives intramuscular,
subcutaneous, and intradermal injections under the supervision of
an appropriate clinician, as ordered by licensed independent
practitioners and within practice limits. • Accurately takes and
records patient vital signs and documents activities and results in
the medical record. • Independently educates patients or targeted
populations, providing HIV, PrEP, STI, and general sexual wellness
information using age-appropriate, culturally sensitive,
agency-approved materials and methods. • Maintains a clean,
sanitary environment in the Clinic. • Documents all work activities
according to established standards, collecting data for production
in weekly, monthly, and annual reporting, and assists with the
creation of reports as needed. • Assists with the making of STI
testing kits, incentive items, and other physical inventory as
needed • Can perform outreach to community agencies and social
groups, and promotes collaboration and referrals to Whitman-Walker
programs as appropriate • Routinely participate in weekly team
meetings and one-on-one supervisor check-ins • Routinely
participate in QI activities as directed by the SR. Director of
Community Health • Daily Team Review of clinical schedule in order
to promote efficiency, communication, and advanced preparation
among all members of the medical team Education and Experience
Required • Graduation from an approved medical assistant program is
required, and medical office or HIV/AIDS experience is preferred. •
Certification or Registration as a Medical Assistant • CPR
Certified • Experience working with an ethnically, culturally, and
racially diverse work staff preferred; ability to work harmoniously
